- Well, it is Christmas Eve Morning… That seems like a contradiction… Christmas Eve-Morn?
- Anywho… MERRY CHRISTMAS CHURCH!
- I am so excited that y’all have chosen to spend your Christmas eve morning here, with your brothers and sisters in Christ, worshiping God and studying His Word.
- Now this morning I know you are expecting a Christmas sermon, and y’all let me tell you, that is what you are getting.
- GOD IS GOOD… ALL THE TIME.
- AND ALL THE TIME… GOD IS GOOD.
- You see I wasn’t supposed to preach this morning, I don’t know if y’all know this, but I just had a baby!
- But I got a text earlier this week saying that the preacher we had lined up was not going to be able to preach… and I was going to ask someone else from the church to preach but I felt like the Holy Spirit told me to preach instead.
- So I was playing with different ideas for Christmas sermons, not even thinking about Genesis… and I was talking to Pastor Matt and he told me he was preaching from Exodus, which they are going through.
- I said “You are not preaching a Christmas sermon?”
- He said “God told us to go through Exodus and that is what I am going to do… besides we have a Christmas Eve evening service for all the Christmas goodness!”
- And that hit me, like… was God wanting me to preach from Genises.
- Then Pastor Matt goes, besides, the whole sermon is about the plague of Darkness and how Christ is the Light of the world… it is a Christmas sermon…”
- Then the Holy Spirit reminded me where we were in Genesis…
Genesis 3:15 NKJV And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.”
- Y’ALL, THIS IS A CHRISTMAS VERSE! This right here, is the first mention of Christmas, You may have missed it, but this right here is the first prophecy in scripture about Christmas, about a Virgin girl bringing birth to the Savior of the world.
- Let’s pray.

- This morning’s sermon is titled “Satan’s Curse, your blessing” and yes, church, it is a Christmas message.
- And let’s just jump right into why this is a Christmas sermon with point one… He was born of a virgin.
No sooner was the wound given than the remedy was provided and revealed.
Point One – He was born of a Virgin.
Genesis 3:14-15 NKJV So the LORD God said to the serpent: “Because you have done this, You are cursed more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you shall go, And you shall eat dust All the days of your life. (15) And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.”
- Now in verse 14, there is so much theology here… so much that could be said.
- Of course the serpent was physically cursed, he lost his legs and now has to crawl on the ground.
- Snakes use their tongue to smell, which causes them to eat a lot of dust…
- So there is this physical curse to the snake…
- But we know from Scripture, as I mentioned in previous sermons, that the snake is in fact Satan… probably here possessed by Satan…
- So this curse applies to Satan.
- And with this curse we see the once proud Angel lucifer being cast from the heavens down to the dust of the earth… where he must wiggle around in the dust, being humiliated for all of eternity.
Isaiah 14:12-16 NKJV “How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! (13) For you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest sides of the north; (14) I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’ (15) Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, To the lowest depths of the Pit. (16) “Those who see you will gaze at you, And consider you, saying: ‘Is this the man who made the earth tremble, Who shook kingdoms,
- Now that all probably deserves a whole sermon in itself, but that is not what the Lord has for us… because it is Christmas eve…
- So let’s instead focus on Genises 3:15… because this is the Christmas verse…
Genesis 3:15 NKJV And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.”
- This right here is a Christmas verse… it is THE Christmas verse that started it all…
- The hope of mankind, is here in this verse.
- The grace, the miracle, the blessing, the salvation of all the world, is here in this verse.
- NO SOONER HAS SIN ENTERED THE WORLD THEN GOD HAS PROMISED SALVATION.
- Let me say this again so you can grasp it, then let me explain.
- At the moment that sin has entered the world, God promises hope and salvation… not hope to Satan, for there is no hope for him… but Hope for Adam and Eve who are listening in to this curse being given.
- Satan has tempted Eve… the mother of mankind…
- And Eve has sinned.
- And God turns first to Satan and says “You may bruise mankind… you may tempt them, and lie to them… you may fight them, you may try to devour them, destroy them, and kill them… but in the end, they will only be bruised… BUT YOU, SATAN, YOU WILL BE CRUSHED.
- And who will do the crushing, well it is none other than the SEED of the woman.
- Now, we are all… mostly adults here… I don’t know if you have ever had to have the birds and the bees conversation with a 4 year old… but I certainly have…
- Before I had this conversation, I would explain to my kids when they ask “where do babies come from?” but the way I would explain it is like this “God takes a little part of mommy and a little part of daddy and mixes them together to make a baby”.
- Well that explanation worked fine… until my kids asked “Which part of mommy and which part of daddy?”
- And then you get this panic feeling as a parent of like “I don’t want to lie… but how much can I really share with a 4 year old and a 6 year old?”
- And so I explained it like this, this is free young parents, you can steal this:
- “Daddy’s carry seeds, and mommy have a special garden for the seeds to grow. Daddy’s can put the seed inside the garden using some special soil that mommy’s make, and with God’s help the seed enters the soil and grows into a baby”.
- And you know what I like about that explanation? It is a Biblical explanation… because the Bible uses the word “Zereh” to mean that part that comes from a man to help make a baby…
- And Zereh… that word literally means “Seed” and is used to describe different kinds of seeds in the Bible.
- So in Hebrew when you are talking about a man’s emission you are talking about his seed.
- And so, with all of that birds and the bee talk that you did not expect on Christmas… do you understand why Genesis 3:15 is a Christmas verse?
Genesis 3:15 NKJV And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.”
- You see sometimes the word “Seed” is used in the Bible to describe children, but it is ALWAYS used to describe men’s children… because men have seed… women have fruit.
- A woman has the fruit of her womb, and the man has the seed of his loins…
- Woman fruit… men seed…
- So what is the deal with the Seed of the Woman… that doesn’t make anatomical sense… is this a typo…
- And FURTHER it is horrifically culturally taboo to speak of a WOMAN’S genealogy in ancient Hebrew culture.
- You don’t speak of a woman’s ancestors, that is horribly dishonorable to the man… it should not be the woman’s seed who crushes the snake… but the man’s seed.
- WHAT ABOUT ADAM? WHAT ABOUT JOSEPH? THIS DOESN’T MAKE ANY SENSE!
- Unless of course, MAN HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT…
Isaiah 7:14 NKJV Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.
Matthew 1:23 NKJV “BEHOLD, THE VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH CHILD, AND BEAR A SON, AND THEY SHALL CALL HIS NAME IMMANUEL,” which is translated, “God with us.”
Luke 1:26-34 NKJV Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, (27) to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. (28) And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!” (29) But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was. (30) Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. (31) And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name JESUS. (32) He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. (33) And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.” (34) Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?”
- You see MAN HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT.
- This was not man’s offspring, which would traditionally be called the seed of the man.
- And this is not woman’s offspring.
- Which would traditionally be called the fruit of the woman.
- NO, Man had nothing to do with it… this is a special genealogy… one that started not with man, but started with woman, conceived by the Holy Spirit.
- Jesus was born of a virgin, and that fact was prophesied in the very unique language of Genesis 3:15.
- The Serpent brought temptation to the woman and the woman brought sin into the world.
- Now the woman brings Christ into the world, and the Christ removes sin from the world.
- Church do you see how beautiful this is… that at the moment of their seeming damnation, God promises Salvation.
- Eve sinned, the first sin, ever, and she convinced her husband to sin… and they are hiding from God…
- God has found them, and is now giving out just punishment… but before He even get’s to Adam and Eve, and their curse… He prophicies that their savior is coming… and that He will be born a virgin.
- While Satan is being cursed, we are being blessed.
- Satan’s curse, our blessing.
- The brings me to point two this Christmas-Eve-Morn… The Curses of Satan are Blessings for Saints.
Point Two – The Curses of Satan are Blessings for Saints.
Genesis 3:14-15 NKJV So the LORD God said to the serpent: “Because you have done this, You are cursed more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you shall go, And you shall eat dust All the days of your life. - When Jesus was born of that virgin girl, in that manger… the Head Crusher came into the world.
- Mary did you know that your baby boy WAS ABOUT TO CRUSH SOME SERPANTS!
- And not only was He going to crush serpents but He would give His children the authority to Crush serpents.
Luke 10:19 NKJV Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
- THANK YOU JESUS!
- Some of y’all need this SERPENT CRUSHING BLESSING in your life.
- That you can walk all over the power of the enemy and that NOTHING BY ANY MEANS SHALL HURT YOU.
- THANK YOU JESUS!
- Satan bruised Jesus’ heals by driving a nail through them…
- But three days later Jesus rose from the grave and started crushing that snakes head.
- The seed of woman, crush the head of the serpent.
- And listen, if you are born again, if you are a child of God, then you are a part of that lineage, you are a part of that Seed of woman.
- Now I am pretty sure that everyone here was born of a man and a woman, that you needed some help from your daddy’s seed to be born.
- But that is why you need to be born again church… because you need to be born without the help of a worldly father… you need to be born of the Holy Spirit, of a Heavenly father… you need to be in the genealogy of Christ!
- AND IF YOU ARE, THEN GUESS WHAT?! Satan’s Curse is YOUR blessing!
- Satan’s curse is your Christmas Gift.
- Because Satan came to kill steal and destroy…
- WELL GUESS WHAT, SATAN, MERRY CHRISTMAS! Because I don’t have Death and Thievery, and Destruction in my stocking… NO SIR… I’mma crush that under my feat.
- Show John 10:10 Satan came to kill… well Christ came to give life, life more abundantly, ETERNAL LIFE. That’s John 10:10
- Show Death where is your sting… oh, it’s right here under my feet!
- Show 1 Corinthians 15:55 Satan came steal and destroy? Well to bad my treasures are stored in heaven where the moth can’t destroy and the thief can’t steal… That’s Matthew 6:10-20!
- Show James 4:7 You want to scare me Satan? Not any more… man, I SCARE YOU! That’s James 4:7
- What did I get for Christmas? I GOT SOME DEVIL STOMPING BOOTS. The devil and all his minions, all his seed, they are under my feet.
- *Slow down* because Christ was born to a virgin, in a manger, some 2023 years ago. Satan is under my feet.
- The Devils curse is our blessings saints…
- You don’t have to be afraid anymore… you don’t have to be robbed anymore… you don’t have to be destroyed anymore…
- You can be whole, you can be free, you can be blessed… because the seed of woman crushes the seed of Satan.
- Merry Christmas Church! I am going to conclude with this passage from Matthew Henrey and a call to receive the greatest gift of all time.
Conclusion
Turn On Children’s Class Lamps
Satan had now trampled upon the woman, and insulted over her; but the seed of the woman should be raised up in the fulness of time to avenge her quarrel, and to trample upon him, to spoil him, to lead him captive, and to triumph over him, “Colossians 2:15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.”.
He shall bruise his head, that is, he shall destroy all his politics and all his powers, and give a total overthrow to his kingdom and interest. Christ baffled Satan’s temptations, rescued souls out of his hands, cast him out of the bodies of people, dispossessed the strong man armed, and divided his spoil: by his death, he gave a fatal and incurable blow to the devil’s kingdom, a wound to the head of this beast, that can never be healed. As his gospel gets ground, Satan falls (Luke 10:18 And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.) and [Satan] is bound, Revelation 20:2 He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years;
By his grace, he treads Satan under his people’s feet (Romans 16:20[a] And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly) and will shortly cast him into the lake of fire, Revelation 20:10 “The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.”
And the devil’s perpetual overthrow will be the complete and everlasting joy and glory of the chosen remnant.

- Church, Satan’s curse is our blessing.
- And yet, let not my rejoicing be in this… that I can crush demons under my feet… as good as that is, it pails in comparison to this fact…
- Because Christ was given for me, my name is now written in the book of life… That church is a reason for rejoicing!
- Gospel Call – Now if your name is not written in the book of life, let’s change that, because God has a Christmas gift for you, and it is given in John 3:16.
John 3:16 NKJV For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
